It mentions that we get some herbo-mineral supplements during the treatments. I am already taking vitamin supplements, should I discontinue these during the treatments?

We usually give our clients a customized herbo-mineral program after assessing their unique nature and needs. We recommend that those who are taking vitamins/supplements suspend their intake while going through Kayakalpa so that they may assess the difference. In our experience of over two decades in this field, they never go back to the regular supplements.

How is Kayakalpa different from a Panchakarma treatment?

Panchakarma is an Ayurvedic treatment that is the adminstration of five purificatory methods. Kayakalpa is a complete renewal of the entire system a form of aplied alchemy where the body and mind are purified and nurtured through customized therapies, allowing vital energy to be ignited, united and exalted with specialised breathing techniques so that transmutation of the entire being takes place, opening the door to an intuitive state where meditation becomes “sahaj” completely effortless, natural and profound.

Is there an ideal time for Kayakalpa? What is the ideal time period for completing the recommended course of sessions?

While you can enjoy the benefits of Kayakalpa at any time, Spring and Fall have been mentioned as ideal time for intensive Kayakalpa in ancient texts. Whenever you choose to start, we recommend that your sessions be completed in a maximum of 90 days.

What is the difference between an Ayurvedic Shirodhara treatment and Dhara Kalpa treatment as done in Kayakalpa? ?

Ayurvedic Shirodhara treatment is done while the person is lying down on a table. The oil drips down on the forehead and is collected in a vessel below the person’s head. What most people do not know is that once the treatment is done this same oil is then recycled for use in the next person’s treatment! This is a common practice in Ayurvedic retreats in India including Kerala. It is done to save money on the cost of oil. We at Kayakalpa Foundation consider this practice to be un-hygenic and reprehensible. All the oils and herbs used in our Dhara Kalpa therapy are brewed freshly and discarded after each session. Secondly the oil used in Ayurvedic Shirodhara is plain sesame oil whereas we use organically sourced classic formulations of Mahanarayan, Chandanbalalaxxadi and many other therapeutic oils containing 60 to 70 ingredients that are handmade by us on the premises. Finally, Ayurvedic Shirodhara treatment is limited in its scope as being primarily a relaxation therapy. However, in Dhara Kalpa the continuous stream or dhara can be poured not only on the forehead but on any affected part of the body. Moreover you are not simply lying on a table but immersed in a warm aromatherapeutic bath while being guided in specific pranayama or breathing practices designed to realign and transform your vital energy.
